Academics:

starReading:  Sound out words, oral reading, comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking.  To help your children succeed and to mark their progress, daily word line study is very important.

starAccelerated Reading:  An added incentive to our reading program is the Accelerated Reading program.  This program begins when we feel each child is ready to begin this program.  The children will read certain books and take tests on those books on our computer at school.  They earn points for correct answers, and therefore, earn prizes and rewards.  This is a rewarding incentive program to improve comprehension skills.

starPhonics: Letters sounds, blending of sounds, and language skills

starSpelling: Spelling words come from our reading lessons.  The Spelling test is given on Friday.

starMath:  GO MATH! By Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
starHomework: Boardwork is sent home every night.  Let your child read these to you, then sign and return them the next day. A math sheet will be sent home most nights for practice. Sign and return. Spelling words should also be studied each night for Thursday's test.

starCommunication: The red folder is used for homework and communication.  It is very important to return homework signed by the parent every day in this folder.  Notes are also sent home in this folder.  You may send notes to the teacher in this folder.
